No Internet at Home? No Problem!

Hotspots are portable devices that allow users to connect to the Internet using a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other wireless-capable device from just about anywhere!

These hotspots enable community members to have internet access at the time and location that meets their unique needs and offers a number of benefits such as:

  • Providing Internet access to students traveling for extracurricular activities
  • Offering connectivity to financially disadvantaged community members
  • Helping individuals with employment opportunities
  • Providing internet options in areas with poor or no coverage
  • Accessing health Information
  • Offering connectivity at community wide events
  • Allowing individuals living with disabilities the option to access the Internet from the comfort of home when necessary
  • Providing Internet access to individuals and families whenever they are temporarily away from home

Each hotspot can connect up to 10 devices at one time and provides a free, reliable connection anywhere a cell signal is available. Wi-Fi hotspots can be borrowed for two weeks at a time and, like every service provided by Kingston Library, the devices are available free of charge to library patrons.
