Trustee-Director Relationship
Reviewed and Approved by the Kingston Library Board on December 17, 2009
  1. Director
    1. The director has the responsibility to execute the policies and resolutions of the Board of Trustees.
    2. The director attends meetings of the Board of Trustees and has the right to speak on all subjects under discussion, but does not have the right to vote.
    3. The director should continually review current practices of other libraries and be alert to external trends and changes that can affect the library's program of services. This should be done at his or her convenience so recommendations can be made of these new services and policies which would then be placed into operation once approved by the Board of Trustees.
  2. Board of Trustees

The powers and duties of the Board of Trustees are outlined in Chapter 11 of the Laws of New York 2000, New York State Public Officers Law, New York State Education Law, New York State Municipal Law and other sections of New York State Law.
