Marilyn Beichert Powers Local History Room

Are you looking into family history or the history of Kingston and its surrounding areas? Then Kingston Library's got just what you need in the Marilyn Beichert Powers Local History Room. Our local history room features a number of genealogical aids, numerous works pertaining to the Kingston area, and many works written by local authors.

Resources available in the Local History Room include:

  • Survey of Buildings in Historic Ulster County, published by the Junior League of Kingston
  • Kingston Historic Preservation League collection, including brochures on Kingston preservation guidelines
  • Materials for homeowners on the care and restouration of their homes
  • Verticles files about areas of local interest in Kingston and Ulster County, including photos, newspaper clippings, and brochures
  • Extensive collection of area newspapers starting in the 1800s on microfilm
  • Road and topographical maps of Kingston and Ulster County
  • Kingston City Directories from the 1860s to the 1980s
  • Ulster County Directories since 1975
  • Kingston High School Yearbooks (some years missing)
